Mumbai/New Delhi, 27 February (HS): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday called upon the industry to be courageous and focus on becoming competitive instead of depending on the government. He clarified that competitiveness will come from the industry's ability to innovate manufacturing methods, upgrade skills and competencies.
The Union Commerce Minister said this while addressing a program organized by the IMC Chamber of Commerce in Mumbai. Piyush Goyal asked how long the industry will depend on the crutches of subsidies, high import duties and other similar protectionist measures.
The Union Minister said , As a nation we have to decide to get out of this protectionist mindset and weak thinking.until we become competitive, the aspirations of 140 crore Indians will not be successful and we will not be able to achieve the goal of becoming a developed country.
On the topic 'The Path to Developing India 2047: Driving Prosperity for All', he highlighted how India is a key player in the global economic growth story and offers unmatched opportunities for global investors across various sectors.
