London, 27 February (HS): Liverpool took another important step towards the Premier League title by defeating Newcastle United 2-0 on Wednesday night. With this win, Liverpool took a 13-point lead in the table, as Arsenal played a 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored for Liverpool in the 11th minute with a deflected shot to give the team the lead. Newcastle, who were playing without injured Alexander Isak, struggled in attack. Alexis Mac Allister scored the second goal in the 63rd minute after exchanging passes with Mohamed Salah to ensure Liverpool's victory.
Arsenal lost two more points with a 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest. Coach Mikel Arteta will be concerned that his side failed to score for the second consecutive match. Arsenal took 13 shots, but only one was on target.
Manchester City returned to the top four after beating Tottenham 1-0 thanks to a fit-again Erling Haaland's only goal. The match was a tough one, with both teams creating and missing chances.
Manchester United beat Ipswich Town 3-2, but their performance is still under question. All three of United's goals came from set pieces.
Jaden Philogene took the lead early for Ipswich, but Sam Morsy's deflected goal off Bruno Fernandes' free kick levelled the score. Matthijs de Ligt then scored from a loose ball to give United the lead.
United were reduced to 10 men after Patrick Dorgue was red carded, and Philogene equalised just before halftime. But Harry Maguire's trademark header in the second half ensured United won 3-2.
