Ahilyanagar, 26 Feb (HS):- A farmer in Maharashtra’s
Ahilyanagar is expecting a return of about Rs 7 lakh from Chrysanthemum
flowers, which he is cultivating in March. Santosh Darkunde from
Bahirwadi near Jejur in Nagar Tehsil used 200 LED bulbs to supply sufficient
light for the Chrysanthemum plants to grow. The plants grow during summer and
are cultivated during March and April. To meet the shortage of flowers during
March, he used LED bulbs on half acre of land. The plants grew and he is
getting good harvest during March.
Santosh installed 200 LED bulbs to provide adequate
light to the plants during the winter. He stated that he spent about Rs
40,000 and is expecting a profit of about Rs 7 lakhs from the yield during the
off-season.
A large number of farmers in the region poured in to
see the experiment, as the farm was illuminated during the night.
