Jabalpur, 24 February (HS): On Monday early morning, near Sihora in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh, a speeding jeep (Toofan vehicle) went out of control, hit a tree, went on the wrong side and collided with a bus coming from the front. The accident was so severe that six people sitting in the jeep died on the spot, while two people were injured, who have been referred to Jabalpur Medical College after giving initial treatment at Sihora Hospital. All the people in the jeep were residents of Karnataka and were returning from Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
According to the information, the Toofan vehicle (KA 49 M 5054) was coming from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh towards Jabalpur. Meanwhile, on the Pahrewa bypass in Sihora's Khitauli police station area, around 4 am on Monday, the vehicle broke the divider and reached the wrong side and collided with a bus (MH 40 CM 4579). Six people died on the spot and two people were seriously injured in the accident. Police reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, Collector Deepak Saxena, Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay, ASP Suryakant Sharma reached the spot and inquired about the incident. After this, they went to Sihora Civil Hospital. Here the collector instructed Sihora SDM to provide better treatment to the injured. Collector Saxena said that the police-administration team has informed the family members of the injured about the accident. After getting the post-mortem of the bodies done, the Jabalpur district administration has started preparations to send them to Karnataka.
According to the police, the deceased in the accident have been identified as Veerupakshi Gumti, resident of Belgaum, Karnataka, Basviraj Kurti, resident of Gangok, Balachandra, Raju, Sunil and Veerna. Sadashiv Kumar (59), resident of Gangok, Karnataka and Mustafa have been injured and have been admitted to Jabalpur Medical College.
Sadashiv Kumar (59), resident of Gangok, Karnataka, who was injured in the accident, told the police that all the people in the vehicle were residents of nearby villages. He had left Belgaum, Karnataka on Friday night by hiring a taxi. He was returning at night after bathing in Prayagraj Kumbh on Sunday. Sadashiv said that he was sitting at the back. There was a loud explosion, after that he does not remember anything.
Two people also lost their lives in another road accident in Jabalpur. This accident took place in Sanjeevani Nagar at around 2 o'clock on Sunday night. Here on Jabalpur-Nagpur bypass, a speeding car rammed into a truck parked on the road. In the accident, two people from Raisen, Sultanpur district died on the spot, while a woman in the car is seriously injured. She has been admitted to the medical college.
According to the police, the car occupants were returning from Prayagraj. As soon as the car reached near Andhmuk bypass, it collided with a truck parked on the roadside. In the accident, car driver Ashwini Chaudhary and Saurabh Sarathe died on the spot, while Varsha Lodhi is in critical condition. According to the police, the speed of the car was very high, due to which this accident happened. Police is investigating the matter.
