Mumbai, 21 February (HS): Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has written a letter to Maharashtra Housing Minister Eknath Shinde and the head of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), accusing some builders in SRA projects of trying to change the demography of some areas by carrying out 'housing jihad' through their projects. Sanjay Nirupam has demanded action against the housing jihad going on in a planned manner in Maharashtra.

Sanjay Nirupam told reporters in Mumbai on Friday that most builders in SRA projects are trying to include Muslim people in their projects for SRA flats or shops by rejecting the applications of Hindu people as ineligible. He said that through this 'housing jihad', Muslim builders are trying to change the demography of Mumbai. Sanjay Nirupam said that some builders are adopting a strategy to concentrate the Muslim population in some areas of Mumbai. This can have an impact on the atmosphere of Mumbai.

Nirupam said that Mumbai is the economic capital of the country, as well as a center of cultural diversity. There has been participation of different communities in this city, but if any kind of discrimination is done in government schemes like SRA, then it can have an adverse effect on social harmony.
