Lucknow,
21 Feb (HS): The Uttar Pradesh jail administration had plans to transport holy
water from Prayagraj's Sangam to 75 jails around the state. UP Jail Minister
Dara Singh Chauhan, who monitored the procedure in Lucknow Jail, stated that
while people from all over the world may access Sangam, convicts from our jail
cannot. So we decided to make provisions
for our prison inmates. According to Prison Department authorities, more than
90,000 convicts are presently housed in 75 facilities around the state, including
seven central prisons. PV Ramasastry, Director General (DG) of Prisons, stated
that the minister oversaw the arrangements for detainees to bathe in holy water
from Sangam.
The
holy water from the Sangam was delivered to each prison, mixed with normal
water, and preserved in tiny tanks. According to authorities, the convicts then
took a bath in the water after praying. The Maha Kumbh Mela is taking place in
Prayagraj and will end on February 26.
