Guwahati, 21 February (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that the police has identified 10 accused in the attack on Dhubri MP Rokibul Hussain in Rupahihat of Nagon district on Thursday. Dr. Sarma provided this information while sharing a post on social media today. He said that the state government has directed to increase the security of MP Hussain in Nagon district.

The accused have been identified as Harun of Jamtola, Haresh of Fakoli, Basir of Tamulitupa, Kasem Ali of Kavoimari, Rosidul of Kavoimari, Ayub of Gunabari, Lutkior of Railway Station, Khaliq of Roumari, Mojibur of Gorematikhowa and Jahangir of Kochgaon.

The Chief Minister has said that the people involved in the alleged attack on Congress MP Rokibul Hussain have been identified. The police will take action as per the law.

It is noteworthy that yesterday Congress MP Hussain, his son Tanjil and personal security officers (PSOs) were attacked by masked miscreants in Rupahihat area. According to the information, the MP was targeted with a cricket bat. In which he (MP) and his son narrowly escaped. Whereas, two PSOs have suffered minor injuries.

Today, the Congress party is continuously protesting from the road to inside the Assam Assembly regarding the MP attack incident, calling this incident a failure of the state government. Congress MLAs had also presented an adjournment motion to discuss this matter during the budget session. But, the Speaker of the Assembly Biswajit Daimary rejected it.
