Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin Urges Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Chennai, 20 February (H.S.): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written on Thursday to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the release of 'Samagra Shiksha' funds for the state. The letter comes after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the funds would not be released until Tamil Nadu implements the 'three language' policy mentioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Tamil Nadu government has consistently opposed the imposition of the Hindi language in the state and has alleged that the Central government is withholding funds to implement the NEP. In response, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has emphasized the government's commitment to implementing the NEP, which aims to create a level-playing field for students across the country.

Chief Minister MK Stalin appealed to Modi , We urge the Prime Minister to release the 'Samagra Shiksha' funds, which are crucial for the development of education in Tamil Nadu. We believe that the 'three language' policy is an attempt to impose Hindi on our state, and we will continue to oppose it.

He also requested(https://x.com/mkstalin/status/1892460599176810645) on X handle, How is it fair that funds for our Tamil Nadu students #SamagraShiksha will be allocated only if #NEP2020 is fully implemented and the trilingual policy is adopted? Are the feelings of the Tamil people not valued? Is it right to freeze education funding by ending two separate projects?:

Realizing the seriousness of this problem, you should intervene immediately and release Rs 2,152 crore for Tamil Nadu! Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has also alleged that the Union government has neglected the state in the Union budget 2025-26, failing to provide funds for floods and natural calamities.
