Bhubaneswar, 20 February (H.S.) The call to abolish the legislators' quota in state-run Adarsh schools was made in the Assembly today by senior BJD legislator Pratap Kesari Dev.
During the Zero Hour, Mr. Dev pointed out that current provisions allow legislators to recommend the admission of two students under their quota in Adarsh schools. This practice often leads to dissatisfaction among those not recommended, resulting in unpopularity for the legislators. He argued that the quota system should be eliminated, as it is causing frustration among legislators across all political parties.
Mr. Dev urged Assembly Speaker Surama Padhi to direct the Education and Public Education Minister to consider this issue. In response, Speaker Surama Padhi ruled that the concerned minister should review the demand.
