Chandigarh, 20 February (HS): 1990 batch IAS Anurag Rastogi has become the 38th Chief Secretary of Haryana. On Thursday, he took charge in Chandigarh. Anurag Rastogi will retire on June 30. In such a situation, the government will make a new appointment from July 1. Anurag Rastogi is the first IAS of Haryana to assume the post of Chief Secretary for the second time.
Last year, after the retirement of IAS T.V.S.N Prasad on October 30, the government appointed Vivek Joshi but he was late in taking charge. Due to this, the government appointed Anurag Rastogi as the Chief Secretary of Haryana for three days from November 1 to November 3. Vivek Joshi took over the post of Chief Secretary on November 4, 2024.
Rastogi succeeded Vivek Joshi who took voluntary retirement from service on being appointed as election Commissioner.
The state government again appointed Anurag Rastogi as the Chief Secretary of Haryana on Wednesday night. However, the names of senior IAS Sudhir Rajpal and Sumita Mishra were also in the race to become the Chief Secretary.
