South Salmara (Assam), 20 February (HS): Police have arrested one accused of raping a minor girl in Mankachar under South Salmara Mankachar district. However, the second accused is still absconding. The arrested youth has been identified as Riazul Haque (28). The accused has been arrested by Kharuwabandha police of Mankachar.

According to the information given by police on Thursday, the minor girl was raped on the night of 15 February. She was taken by vehicle and left in Phulbari area of Meghalaya. Somehow the girl reached her home and revealed the whole thing to her family. After this, the victim's family lodged an FIR. On the basis of the registered FIR, the police launched a drive and arrested the accused, while another accused is still absconding. The police is searching for him.
