Mahakumbh
Nagar, 19 Feb (HS): An unprecedented surge of spiritual devotion continues to
pour over Prayagraj, with more than 4.92 million devotees partaking in the Maha
Kumbh 2025 on Wednesday morning alone. According to the Uttar Pradesh
Information Department, the total number of visitors has surpassed 555.6
million since the event began in January. The Maha Kumbh, billed as the world's
greatest spiritual and cultural gathering, kicked out on January 13 with the
Paush Purnima and will conclude on February 26. The Triveni Sangam, where the
sacred plunge takes place, has been visited by notable leaders such as Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and numerous other
high-profile people. Dr. S Somnath, former ISRO Chairman, recently joined the
wave of devotees with his family for a spiritual experience at the Sangam.
Somnath
called the event an expression of humanity's search for the 'nectar of life'
and shared his profound connection with the cosmos on social media, emphasizing
the gathering's huge spiritual influence. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath stressed the state's transformational journey, highlighting
Prayagraj, Kashi, and Ayodhya as symbols of India's emerging potential under
Prime Minister Modi's leadership. He highlighted an exponential increase in
tourists to Ayodhya, which reflects the region's spiritual and economic
development.
The
Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and the pilgrimage city of Ayodhya are also
seeing a rise in foot traffic, with pilgrims arriving for darshan following
their holy dip in Prayagraj, indicating a magnificent era of devotion and
cultural renaissance.
