Bhubaneswar, 19 February (H.S.): Sarat Kumar Giri, Deputy Collector and OAS-A (SB), working as the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (General) at the Collectorate in Keonjhar, was apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance today for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000.
Giri was caught red-handed in his office while accepting the bribe from a complainant in exchange for disbursing the compensation amount for land acquired by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The full bribe amount of Rs. 50,000 has been recovered from his possession and seized by the Vigilance officials. said a release issued by vigilance department
Following the successful operation, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Giri in connection with assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
