Jammu, 19 February (H.S.): Farooq Ganderbali, a prominent political and nationalist activist from Kashmir, who had left the party in the past rejoined the BJP after 20 years, in a function held here today.

He was welcomed into the party fold by Sat Sharma CA, president, Jammu and Kashmir BJP.

Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said, “There is a clear wave in favour of BJP in entire length and breadth of Kashmir, which is visible on ground as more and more people are joining the party with each passing day. Even our old activists, who had left the party in the past, too are coming back.”

Sat Sharma said, “Farooq Ganderbali had served BJP as BJYM Kashmir, president from 1998 to 2003. Later, he contested the Assembly election from Ganderbal in 2008 as independent candidate against Omar Abdullah. His rejoining BJP after 20 years marks a renewed wave of support for the party in Kashmir, which reaffirms his commitment to the party’s vision of development, stability and peace in the region.”

In other programmes, Sat Sharma, along with other leaders, felicitated a renowned dogra sculptor, Ravinder Singh Jamwal, who had prepared bust of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayay.

Sharma also felicitated Prof (Dr) Kulbhushan Mohtra, BJP senior leader, for getting state award for his literary work.

Ashok Kumar, party vistarak, was also given a warm send off as he has been deputed to Andhra Pradesh to serve the organisation.

BJP General Secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, party MLA Yudhvir Sethi and Arvind Gupta, Tilak Raj Gupta, NEM Priya Sethi, senior leaders Mushtaq Noorabadi and Avtar Krishan Bhat, also welcome Ganderbali.
