Tamil Nadu, 18 February (H.S.): The protest in Tamil Nadu is against the National Education Policy (NEP) and the Centre's alleged betrayal of the state. The DMK and its allies, including the Congress and Left parties, accuse the Centre of denying funds to Tamil Nadu and imposing the NEP, which they believe undermines the state's autonomy in education.
The protest is also against the Centre's three-language policy, which the DMK claims is an attempt to impose Hindi on Tamil Nadu. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been criticized for threatening to withhold funds from Tamil Nadu's education department unless the state adopts the NEP.
As per their key demands of NEP to withdraw , the DMK and its allies want the Centre to withdraw the NEP and respect Tamil Nadu's autonomy in education. DMK insisting the rejection of Three-Language Policy and ruling government oppose the Centre's three-language policy and they believe is an attempt to impose Hindi on Tamil Nadu.
DMK also focusing on release of Funds and wants the Centre has to release funds for Tamil Nadu's education department without conditions.
The DMK has also accused the Centre of using the Governor's office to transgress on the state's rights and attempting to damage the state's education infrastructure through the University Grants Commission (UGC).
