Ayodhya,
18 Feb (HS): The Ayodhya Police has launched a major raid on a motorbike gang
suspected of overcharging pilgrims visiting the Ram shrine. As part of their
investigation, officers from the Ram Janmabhoomi police station confiscated 30
bikes on Monday and Tuesday. The increase of pilgrims visiting Ayodhya during
the present Maha Kumbh in the adjoining Prayagraj district has resulted in
vehicle access limitations, unwittingly allowing these bikers to demand
excessive charges of up to Rs 100 per kilometer. This sparked local complaints
and eventual police intervention. Furthermore, a lady pilgrim from Maharashtra,
Kavita Shetty, has filed a FIR against an acquaintance over an alleged VIP
darshan scam at the temple, resulting in a joint inquiry with the Mumbai
Police.
