Lucknow,
18 Feb (HS): Mata Prasad Pandey, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, blasted the
Uttar Pradesh Governor on Tuesday for providing false estimates of dead from
the Mahakumbh stampede during her budget session speech. The demonstration
sparked yells of 'Go Back Governor' from Samajwadi Party and Congress MLAs,
halting assembly operations. Pandey questioned the Governor's brief speech,
citing emotional discomfort at the Mahakumbh tragedy as a probable explanation.
In
response, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya chastised the opposition
for using unlawful chants, accusing the Samajwadi Party of anarchism and lack
of political responsibility. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
underlined the need of opposition collaboration in ensuring the session's
smooth operation, stressing the government's developmental achievements during
the last eight years.
