Imphal, 18 February (HS): Security forces in Manipur have arrested KCP (KK Nangba) and RPF/PLA rebels in separate operations.
Police said on Tuesday that security forces arrested 70-year-old Chongtham Mangalamjao Meitei alias KK Nangba alias Kangleikhonba Nangba and 57-year-old Laishram Mangalemba Singh of KCP (KK Nangba) outfit group from Langol Ningthou Leikai under Lamphel police station area of Imphal West district.
Besides this, Manipur Police arrested 56-year-old Shamurailatpam Bipin Sharma alias Nanda of RPF/PLA rebel group from Khongman Manjil Zone-I of Imphal East district. The accused was said to be involved in extorting money from the general public, government officials, schools and colleges. One mobile phone was seized from him.
Further, during checking at Sangai University located near Kaprang village in Churachandpur district, security forces arrested one Lamkhogin Dimangel, a resident of Kangchup Patjang, Kangpokpi district and recovered from him unaccounted cash of ₹34,20,000, two soap cases containing 24 grams of suspected brown sugar, three mobile phones, a purse containing Aadhaar card, PAN card and voter ID, one four-wheeler and one live cartridge (of unknown bore).
Security forces have initiated legal action against all the accused. Detailed investigation into the case is underway.
