India and Qatar upgraded their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership


New Delhi, February 18 (HS): PM Narendra Modi and Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held personal and delegation level talks at Hyderabad House in Delhi on Tuesday. In the talks, both the leaders have decided to transform the mutual partnership into a strategic partnership.

Extensive talks were held at Hyderabad House today, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told X Post today. The two leaders decided to elevate India-Qatar relations to a strategic partnership with a focus on trade, energy, investment, innovation, technology, food security, food security, culture and people-to-people relations. They exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu formally welcomed Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived in New Delhi yesterday on a two-day visit. Giving a special honour to his visit, Prime Minister Modi himself welcomed him at the airport.

The Emir of Qatar is accompanied by a high-level delegation. It includes ministers, senior officials and a business delegation. This is his second visit. Earlier, he had come to India on his state visit in March 2015.
