Lucknow,
18 Feb (HS): Governor Anandiben Patel delivered a heartfelt message to both houses
of the Uttar Pradesh state legislature, expressing great sadness over the
tragic stampede during Mahakumbh. She expressed her sympathies to departed
families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. Despite the
terrible tragedy, Governor Patel praised Mahakumbh's personification of 'Ek
Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' as a tribute to unity in diversity. She praised the
Mahakumbh 2025 for setting new benchmarks in a variety of areas, describing it
as a unique blend of tradition and contemporary.
Meanwhile,
the Samajwadi Party organized a protest against the claimed number of deaths,
accusing the administration of disseminating misleading information. The leader
of the opposition alleged that the governor left her address incomplete,
possibly owing to grief at the event, raising concerns about government
openness.
