Nagar, 18 Feb (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government declared a historic

participation of 55 crore devotees during the Maha Kumbh Mela, with everyone

taking the sacred dip at the famed Triveni Sangam. The Mela began on January 13

and will continue till February 26, during which time more than half of India's

Sanatan devotees have already participated. This celebration is among the

largest religious and cultural gatherings ever held.

According

to global estimates, around 120 crore individuals practice Sanatan Dharma, with

more than 45 percent partaking in the holy dip. The gathering has drawn a

record number of saints and devotees, well beyond Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath's initial projections.
