Bhubaneswar, 18 February (H.S.): Today, a team of eight CBI officials raided the official residence of IAS officer Bishnupada Sethy in Bhubaneswar as part of an investigation into a bribery case involving Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd. Sethy, however, has denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the CBI's actions were unjustified and that his family endured harassment during the raid.
Sethy firmly rejected any association with the company, which has been engaged in projects with the Odisha government since 2016-17. He noted that the CBI had previously arrested Chanchal Mukherjee, the group general manager of Bridge and Roof Company, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. Sethy questioned why the CBI was focusing on his residence instead of conducting a raid on Mukherjee's property.
“The raid took place at 7 am. They forcibly entered my house without any female officers present, and my family members were harassed. I have no involvement with the Bridge and Roof Company, which has been working with the Odisha government for years. Instead of targeting Mukherjee, the CBI is raiding my home. I had hoped for a transparent investigation, especially since no FIR has been filed against me,” Sethy stated.
