New Delhi, February 17 (HS): Union Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs Pabitra Margherita on Monday inaugurated the Central Silk Board's International Conference - Silktech 2025 under the mega textile event - Bharat Tex 2025 at Bharat Mandapam. At Silktech-2025 organized by the Central Silk Board on emerging technologies in the silk sector, Pabitra Margherita emphasized the use of zero waste technologies in the silk product value chain. On this occasion, six MoUs were signed between the Research and Development Institute of the Central Silk Board and NGOs.
The Minister of State for Textiles released two souvenir cum abstract booklets on emerging technologies in the silk sector. Textile Secretary Neelam Shami Rao was also present on the occasion. On this occasion, Pabitra Margherita mentioned the distinctive Muga and Eri silk of the North-Eastern states. Highlighting zero waste technology in the silk product value chain, he called for increasing the production and export of textiles three-fold through quality research and collaboration.
He emphasized on global market trends and continuous innovations in the silk product chain to make India self-reliant and emphasized on advanced technologies in enhancing the quality of silk.
Textiles Secretary Neelam Shami Rao underlined the remarkable change in silk production due to the implementation of the integrated scheme Silk Samagra for the development of silk industry. He also talked about promoting the use of silk co-products through advanced technologies.
