New Delhi, February 17 (HS): A delegation of the Legal and Human Rights Department of Delhi Pradesh Congress on Monday submitted a memorandum to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) regarding the deaths of people in the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station and the complaint of mismanagement of the railway administration. In the memorandum, a demand was made to form a committee to investigate this tragic incident and take action against the responsible officials. This delegation went as per the instructions of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav. The delegation was led by Advocate Sunil Kumar, Chairman of Legal and Human Rights Department of Delhi Congress. The delegation included Rajesh Garg, Chairman Booth Management, Advocate Sajid Chaudhary, Advocate Sheikh Imran Alam, Advocate Nishkarsh Gupta, Advocate Megha Sehra, Advocate Babar, Advocate Pratap Singh, Advocate Deepak Pilot and Law Student Kartikeya Garg.

Devendra Yadav said that people died due to the mismanagement of the department at New Delhi Railway Station, for which the Railway Department is directly responsible. To prevent such stampedes in future, the railway should issue guidelines so that the lives of people going to Maha Kumbh from Delhi and other states can be saved. Due to the chaos in Maha Kumbh, people died in a stampede in Prayagraj on 29 January as well. People lost their lives in Delhi due to the negligence and mismanagement of the railways. Devendra Yadav said that 1500 tickets were being sold per hour at New Delhi Railway Station alone. Due to delay in trains, disorganization of railway traffic, the railway should prepare its action plan to organize the journey of Maha Kumbh devotees.
