Chennai, 8 December (H.S.): A protest by the Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) against an alleged illegal liquor bar operating within a recreation center in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, intensified on Sunday, culminating in a violent confrontation where a party cadre was captured on video attempting to bite a police officer.

The situation escalated when TVK members, who had reportedly sought permission to protest for 15 days, forcefully tried to enter the premises.

The party alleged that the recreation center was being misused and that illegal activities were occurring due to a nearby TASMAC liquor outlet.

When police intervened to block the cadres' entry, a physical standoff ensued. During the commotion, one protester was caught on camera attempting to bite the hand of a police officer who was restraining him.

The officer managed to pull his hand away, preventing injury. The protest was held to demand a permanent solution to the alleged illegal operations.
