Bhubaneswar, 8 December (H.S.): The Odisha Vigilance Directorate has arrested of 271 government officials and employees, including 20 police personnel, over the past 18 months. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi provided the data in a written reply to the Odisha Assembly, highlighting the government’s sustained crackdown on graft.

According to official figures, vigilance-related cases during this period led to 174 convictions in Vigilance Courts, indicating a significant increase in successful prosecutions. Following these legal actions, the state government took strict administrative measures: 33 officials were dismissed from service, while pension benefits of 65 retired employees were withheld due to their involvement in corruption cases.

CM Majhi emphasized that the Vigilance Directorate continues to prioritise trap operations aimed at exposing bribery at various levels of public service. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ongoing monitoring and investigation to ensure transparency and accountability across all departments.
