OAV Teachers’ Body Stages Dharna Over 13-Point Charter of Demands

Bhubaneswar, 8 December (H.S.): The Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) Teachers’ Association staged a massive dharna at Lower PMG on Monday, pressing for the fulfilment of its 13-point charter of demands. The organisation has urged the state government to grant OAV employees the same official recognition as employees of government high schools under the School and Mass Education Department. It has also demanded uniform cadre status for all staff members.

The association is seeking equal pay for equal work, 4600 grade pay for PET, music, and computer teachers at par with other employees, posting of PGT Odia teachers in every OAV, and creation of PGT posts for Hindi and Sanskrit. Additionally, it has demanded that all OAVs be granted PM Shri School status, arts streams be introduced in all schools, and reservation of seats be ensured for children of OAV staff.

The teachers’ body has also called for regularisation of the promotion system for all categories of employees and principals, creation of clerk posts in every OAV, and regularisation of clerks already working in some schools. The association further demanded 15% reservation for OAV students in NEET and JEE, emphasising the need to enhance opportunities for meritorious students.
