Bhubaneswar, 8 December (H.S.): On Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Odisha Assembly that 3,486 cybercrime cases have been registered in the state over the past 16 months, resulting in 727 arrests.

Responding to a query by MLA Rama Chandra Kadam, CM Majhi stated that 727 individuals have been apprehended for their involvement in cybercrimes, including 69 digital arrests during this period.

According to the data presented, 104 cases have been charge-sheeted and are currently undergoing trial. The total financial loss suffered by victims amounts to ₹22,20,97,847. Efforts to recover the lost funds are ongoing, with ₹61,36,381 already refunded to the victims or credited to their bank accounts. Additionally, bank accounts worth ₹6,74,09,434 have been frozen as part of the investigation.
