
Udhampur, 8 December (H.S.): The family members and relatives held a protest outside SSP office Udhampur after a villager was killed in a land dispute in Barmeen area of Udhampur district last night.
Reports said a land dispute in the Barmeen area of Ghordi block of Ramnagar, in Udhampur district took a tragic turn when a man, identified as Bhim Singh, succumbed to injuries sustained in an assault on November 19, 2025. An FIR No 175/ 2025 was registered in Ramnagar police station in this connection.
The incident originated from a clash between two groups over a land dispute at the village, during which one member of the rival party attacked Bhim Singh on the head with a stick.
Injured Bhim Singh was shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu from Udhampur and during last three-four days his condition deteriorated. He passed away last night in the hospital.
Following his death, family members and relatives of Bhim Singh staged a protest outside the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Udhampur today, demanding justice and the arrest of the culprits. They alleged that accused was not arrested and he was moving freely.
Police officials said that a board of doctors would be formed tomorrow to conduct the post-mortem and ascertain the cause of death. They assured fair justice to the family.
