Kochi , 8 December (H.S.): Malayalam actor and producer Dileep on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Kerala Police after he was acquitted of charges of criminal conspiracy in the high-profile actress assault case, alleging that investigators had fabricated a false narrative to frame him and destroy his life and career.

Walking out of the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court, a visibly relieved Dileep paused to address the media gathered outside, breaking his silence moments after the verdict. “The police made up a false case with the help of the other accused and then used a section of the media to propagate that story. Today, that story has crumbled in court. The real conspiracy was to frame me and ruin my film career and my life,” he said.

At one point, when reporters sought to know who he believed was behind the alleged conspiracy, the actor appeared to lose his composure briefly before regaining control. “Let me speak,” he said, as he went on to thank his family, friends, well-wishers and legal team. “They stood by me through everything. I deeply thank those who prayed for me and my lawyers who worked day and night to defend me in this case.”

Earlier in the day, Dileep had avoided speaking to the media as he arrived at the court to hear the verdict. Inside the packed courtroom, he maintained a calm demeanour while the judge read out the findings against the first set of accused. When the court pronounced that accused numbers 7, 8, 9 and 15 — including Dileep — had been acquitted of the conspiracy charges, a collective sigh of relief was heard among his supporters present in the courtroom. Dileep, however, remained composed.

Despite alleging a larger conspiracy by the police, the actor declined to answer further questions from reporters on who, according to him, engineered the plot against him. Ignoring repeated queries, he walked away from the court premises accompanied by his counsel.

The actress assault case, which has remained in the public spotlight for years, continues to evoke strong reactions across Kerala, with Monday’s court order marking a significant legal and emotional moment for the actor and his supporters.
