
Guwahati, 29 December (HS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the Batadrava Cultural Project on Monday at Batadrava in Assam. Shah will be accorded a traditional welcome on arrival at the project site, reflecting the cultural and spiritual significance of the occasion.
Around 150 Satradhikars and nearly 60 thousand devotees and Vaishnavs are expected to be present at the inauguration ceremony. The grand cultural project has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹227 crore, aiming to preserve and promote Assam’s Vaishnavite heritage and cultural legacy associated with Srimanta Sankardeva.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister scheduled to arrive in Guwahati today. His scheduled flight from Ahmedabad to Guwahati on Sunday night was cancelled due to dense fog, which disrupted flight operations late last night.

Yesterday Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected the venues and briefed the media about the Home Minister’s scheduled engagements.
According to the Chief Minister, Shah was scheduled to land at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Borjhar at around 11 pm. He was to proceed to the State Guest House located at Koinadhara Hills in Khanapara for an overnight stay.
On Monday morning at 9 am, the Home Minister had to visit the Shaheed Memorial at Boragaon to pay tributes to the martyrs of the Assam Movement. From there, he had travel to Batadrava, where he will inaugurate the newly developed project at the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva.
Later in the day, Shah has to inaugurate the newly built Guwahati Police Commissionerate office in the city. At around 4 pm, he will also inaugurate the state-of-the-art Vishnu Jyoti Kala Mandir, a 5,000-seat modern auditorium near the Khanapara Agriculture College and participate in several programmes scheduled at the venue.
The Home Minister was expected to return to New Delhi this evening. Because of the dance fog all the programs have been rescheduled. He has not arrived till filing this report.---------------
