Prayagraj,

28 Dec (HS): In a proactive step to strengthen rail operations for the upcoming

Magh Mela, Praveen Kumar, Managing Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor

Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), conducted a comprehensive window trailing

inspection of the New Manauri–New Durgaoti section on the Eastern Dedicated

Freight Corridor (EDFC). Traveling by rail car alongside senior officials from

DFCCIL's Corporate Office, Prayagraj, and DDU units, the visit emphasized

readiness amid the season's dense fog and the event's massive passenger influx

during Magh Mela.

The

Magh Mela, one of India's largest religious gatherings, draws millions of

devotees and strains local transport networks, especially railways. MD Kumar

stressed stringent protocols to balance freight efficiency with passenger

needs, aligning with Railway Board directives. Discussions with Chief General

Managers from Prayagraj, DDU and AGM/OP&BD/EDFC focused on optimizing train

operations, maintenance, and safety during low-visibility conditions.

The

team scrutinized bridges, ongoing maintenance practices, and potential

vulnerabilities. While commending current standards, the MD urged heightened

vigilance to mitigate fog-related risks, including improved station communication

and staff alertness. A coordination meeting with North Central Railway (NCR)

officials, including DRM/Prayagraj, ensured seamless support during the Mela.

The MD also discussed strategies to increase freight train operations and

explored possibilities for Kavach installations to enhance safety. Also held

meeting with KAVACH agency to analyse progress.

DFCCIL

remains committed to reliable, adaptable services. Key officers accompanying

Managing Director Praveen Kumar included Sandesh Srivastava (ED/Projects), A S

Tomar (GGM/S&T) Akhilesh Srivastava (GM/Electrical), AB Saran (CGM/Prayagraj),

Atul Kumar, (CGM/DDU), Ashish Mishra (GM/Security), Shashikant Dwivedi

(GM/Electrical), Mannu Prakash Dubey (AGM/OP&BD/EDFC), and senior

representatives from engineering, mechanical, electrical, and S&T

departments. With preparations accelerating under MD Kumar's leadership and NCR

collaboration, DFCCIL is poised to deliver safe, efficient rail services during

the Magh Mela.
