Srinagar, 28 December (H.S.): A traffic police officer has been suspended for misusing an official vehicle to make a social media reel on the snow-covered Mughal Road in Poonch district.

SI Gul Sheraz, Sector Officer (Traffic) Mughal Road, was placed under suspension after a video went viral on social media, officials said.

In the video, they said, the Traffic Police officer was allegedly seen leaning out of the fully opened front door of a moving traffic police vehicle (Innova Crysta Interceptor) while it was driving on the slippery Mughal Road near Pir Ki Gali.

The incident drew widespread criticism, as it posed a serious risk to public safety, especially in view of the dangerous road and weather conditions in the area.

Following the suspension, ASI Anil Kumar has been posted as the new Sector Officer (Traffic) on Mughal Road.

Meanwhile, the SSP Traffic Rural Jammu Farooq Qaiser has ordered a departmental enquiry into the matter, which will be conducted by the DySP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch.

The suspended officer has been directed to report to Traffic Police Lines, Rural Jammu, with immediate effect.

The SSP Traffic Rural Jammu stated that there is zero tolerance for violations of traffic rules and safety norms, whether by civilians or traffic police personnel.

He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found endangering public safety.
