TVK chief Vijay pays tribute to Captain Vijayakanth on second death anniversary


Chennai, 28 December (H.S.) : Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay on Sunday paid a soulful tribute to the late Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam founder Captain Vijayakanth on his second death anniversary.

In an emotional message shared on social media, the actor turned politician remembered the legendary leader as a revolutionary artist who carved an indelible place in the hearts of the masses. He joined a long list of prominent leaders and thousands of followers who gathered in Chennai to honor the memory of the late actor turned politician.

Chief Minister M K Stalin also remembered Vijayakanth, calling him a dear friend who earned the boundless love of the Tamil people through his noble heart and compassion for the poor.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister noted that the late leader would always be remembered for his good deeds and his selfless commitment to helping everyone. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and other senior ministers also joined the public in offering their respects at the memorial in Koyambedu.

Union Minister L Murugan and senior BJP leaders, including Pon Radhakrishnan and Tamilisai Soundararajan, were also present to pay their respects. Murugan described Vijayakanth as a role model who consistently worked for the downtrodden, while Soundararajan recalled his brotherly affection toward her.

Authorities highlighted his significant contributions to both the film industry and state politics, noting that he successfully led the DMDK to become the principal opposition in the state assembly in 2011. Vijayakanth passed away on December 28, 2023, following a prolonged illness.
