Lucknow,
28 Dec (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to strengthen
law and order in the state on Sunday, concluding the second day of the
Police Manthan Senior Police Officers Conference-2025. He
specifically instructed senior police officers to maintain strict vigilance on
social media and cybercrime. He urged them to adopt a zero-tolerance policy
against those who disrupt law and order, ethnic and religious harmony on social
media. He directed the technical strengthening of border security and
counter-terrorism systems to curb the growing terrorist activities and drug
smuggling from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal into the state. He also called
for strict action against organized gangs involved in cow smuggling and
religious conversions.
Directives
for strict monitoring of social media and cybercrime: Expressing deep concern
over challenges such as social media misuse, disinformation, deepfakes, the
dark web, cybercrime, and terrorist networks, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
directed the police and intelligence agencies to immediately take cognizance of
any objectionable content on social media that impacts law and order, ethnic
and religious harmony, and ensure swift and strict action. The Chief Minister
clarified that no leniency should be shown towards elements attempting to
divide society, pressure the police, or spread anarchy in the name of caste or
religion. Such posts, fake accounts, and organized propaganda campaigns should
be identified and strict legal action should be taken against them. He said
that some anti-social elements are attempting to spread anarchy by creating new
organizations and misusing the names of great figures. He directed the police
to thoroughly investigate the background of such organizations, dismantle their
networks, and ensure strict action within the ambit of the law.
Special
vigilance on incidents of religious conversion: Describing religious conversion
as a serious challenge, the Chief Minister said that incidents like the one in
Balrampur indicate that such efforts are being made in an organized manner. He
directed the police and intelligence to keep a constant vigil on activities
related to religious conversion, strengthen intelligence through social media
and effectively prevent any such incident at the initial stage itself. While
praising the work done by the police so far, he said that in the current
scenario, there is a need to make intelligence, local input and technical surveillance
more active and effective. To maintain peace, harmony and law and order in the
state, every activity on social media should be closely monitored and timely
action should be ensured.
Instructions
to technically strengthen border security and counter-terrorism systems: The
Chief Minister, while conducting a thorough analysis of the new dimensions of
terrorist activities emanating from the international borders with Pakistan,
Bangladesh, and Nepal, emphasized the need to further strengthen border surveillance.
He directed further strengthening the effective use of artificial intelligence,
financial trails, technical analysis, and modern resources to prevent the
international funded conversion racket.
Continue
strict action against drug trafficking and organized crime: The Chief Minister
praised the police's strong action against terrorism, drug trafficking, and
organized crime in the state. He said that this action needs to be made more
effective and decisive. He directed departmental coordination and real-time
information sharing between security agencies to ensure prompt action and break
the morale of criminal networks.
Strategy
to attack the masterminds of cow smuggling and criminal networks: The Chief
Minister clarified that in cow smuggling cases, prompt arrests alone are not
enough; instead, the entire network and its masterminds must be identified and
the strongest possible action taken against them. This will send a strong
message against such organized crimes in the state and ensure an effective stop
to cow smuggling and related crimes. The Chief Minister praised the police
action in such cases in the state.
