Ri-Bhoi (Meghalaya), 28 December (HS):
One person was killed on the spot in a road accident that occurred in the Burnihat police outpost area of Ri-Bhoi district on Sunday morning.
Police said the incident took place near 12 Mile on National Highway-6 when a high-speed motorcycle bearing registration number AS-01EM-7813 rammed into the rear of a stationary truck (AP-07TM-1279) parked on the roadside. The impact was severe, resulting in the instantaneous death of the motorcycle rider.
On receiving information, a team from the Burnihat police outpost rushed to the spot and took custody of the body. The deceased was later sent to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated an investigation. Till the filing of the last reports, the identity of the deceased had not been ascertained.--------------
