Jammu, 28 December (H.S.): People from Kalakote area today staged a protest against the prolonged delay in completion of the road connecting Balli village with Kha, expressing strong resentment over the authorities’ failure to complete the work despite the passage of time.

The protesting locals said that the incomplete road has caused immense hardships to the people of the area, severely affecting daily life, transportation, education, healthcare access and other essential activities. They alleged that repeated requests and representations to the concerned departments have failed to yield any positive outcome.

The protesters appealed the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to personally intervene into the matter and order a thorough enquiry into the inordinate delay and alleged lapses in execution of the road project. They demanded that responsibility be fixed on those found accountable and that the work be completed on priority basis.

The locals warned that if immediate steps are not taken to resolve the issue, they would be compelled to intensify their agitation. They urged the administration to acknowledge the genuine grievances of the people and ensure early completion of the road to end the prolonged sufferings of area’s residents.
