Chennai, 27 December (H.S.) : Southern Railway has announced the operation of special express trains between Rameswaram and Banaras to manage the extra rush of passengers during the festive season.

According to an official statement, the initiative aims to provide comfortable travel options for commuters and delegates traveling between these prominent cultural destinations. Authorities confirmed that advance reservations for these services are now open for the public.

The Rameswaram to Banaras Express special, identified as Train Number 06099, is scheduled to depart from Rameswaram at 11:50 pm on December 30. The service will reach its destination in Banaras at 12:00 pm on the fourth day of its journey.

For the return trip, Train Number 06100 will depart from Banaras at 11:00 pm on January 2 and is expected to arrive at Chennai Beach at 10:00 pm on the third day. These trains will feature important stoppages at Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, and Chengalpattu to assist local passengers.

The coach composition for these special trains will consist of sixteen AC three tier coaches. Notably, eight of these coaches have been specifically earmarked for delegates participating in the Kashi Tamil Sangamam through IRCTC.

The trains will also include two luggage cum brake vans to accommodate passenger belongings and operational requirements. Railway officials have urged passengers to utilize the online and offline booking facilities early to ensure confirmed tickets during this high demand period.

Statements from the railway administration highlighted that these services are part of a continuous effort to improve connectivity between Southern and Northern India during peak times.

The special schedule has been designed to align with the travel patterns observed during the end of the year. Travelers are advised to check the official Southern Railway website or station help desks for detailed timing and stoppage information before their journey.
