New Delhi, 27 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid homage to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, on the auspicious occasion of his Parkash Utsav (birth anniversary), describing him as an eternal symbol of courage, compassion, and sacrifice.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister said, “On the sacred Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, we bow in reverence to him. He remains an embodiment of courage, compassion and sacrifice. His life and teachings inspire us to stand for truth, justice, righteousness and to protect human dignity. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s vision continues to guide generations towards service and selfless duty.”

Paying glowing tribute to the revered Guru, PM Modi highlighted that the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji — rooted in spiritual resilience and social justice — continue to inspire the values of service, righteousness, and devotion among millions across the world.

Recalling his earlier visit to the historic Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, the Prime Minister shared pictures from the pilgrimage, noting that he had the Darshan (holy glimpse) of the sacred Jore Sahib of both Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji during that visit. The holy site in Patna, regarded as the birthplace of the Guru, remains one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Sikhism.

A Punjabi translation of the Prime Minister’s message was also posted on X, reflecting his deep respect for the Sikh community and its enduring contribution to India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. In his Punjabi message, he reiterated the Guru’s timeless ideals of bravery, empathy, and sacrifice, emphasizing how his vision continues to guide generations towards Seva (selfless service) and Nishkam Kartavya (duty without desire for reward).The Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji is observed with great devotion across India and worldwide Sikh communities.

The day commemorates the birth of the saint-soldier who founded the Khalsa Panth in 1699, stood fearlessly for justice, and dedicated his life to upholding truth, equality, and the sovereignty of faith.
