Bhimashankar Temple will remain closed for the devotees for three months from
January 9, 2026, except during Mahashivratri celebrations. The decision has
been taken by the Temple Trust for completing the repair works and security
reasons.
The
Maharashtra Government has approved the special development plan for the
Bhimashankar Temple, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga. A meeting of the Temple
Trust, shop owners in the area and local residents was held on December 23,
after which the decision to close the premises for the devotees was taken. The
devotees will be allowed to visit the temple during the Mahashivratri
celebrations from February 12 to 18, 2026.
The
devotees during the Simhasth Kumbhamela in Nashik, will visit Bhimashankar
Tample. The facilities will be developed under the government development plan
for the devotees before the Kumbhamela.
The daily
rituals (Puja), however, will be performed daily. Only the PWD employees,
construction workers and machinery and villagers will be allowed to enter the
region.
The local
administration has appealed to the devotees and other visitors to cooperate.
