- Unprecedented Transformation Under BJP Rule
Guwahati, 27 December (HS):
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the state has witnessed unprecedented transformation during the BJP’s tenure, asserting that Assam’s overall development has been a key priority for the party. He was addressing the BJP executive meeting.
He said visible changes and rapid development are taking place across cities and towns, bringing tangible improvements to people’s daily lives.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several ambitious projects—once considered unimaginable by the people of Assam—have been launched. These initiatives, he said, have significantly accelerated the state’s growth trajectory and strengthened its infrastructure base.
Highlighting major projects, Dr Sarma cited the new terminal of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, the revival and expansion of the Namrup fertiliser plant and the upcoming semiconductor project at Jagiroad as landmark achievements of the BJP government. He said these projects reflect the Centre’s long-term vision for Assam and the Northeast.
Responding to questions raised by Congress leader Priyank Kharge on the semiconductor project, the Chief Minister said the Prime Minister has sanctioned the project specifically to boost development in the Northeast, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to balanced regional growth.
Stating that the people of Assam are happy with the changes brought to public life, Dr Sarma expressed confidence that the electorate would once again repose faith in the BJP. “The people of Assam are satisfied with the transformation in governance and development and they will bring the BJP back to power for a third consecutive term,” he said.--------
