Three arrested in Udaipur for alleged gangrape of IT company manager

Udaipur, 26 December (H.S.): Three people, including the chief executive officer of a private IT company, have been arrested for the alleged gangrape of a female manager following a birthday party here, police said on Friday.

According to police, the accused CEO had organised a birthday party last Saturday, which was attended by the woman. The other two accused are a senior female executive of the company and her husband. All three were arrested on Thursday and produced before a court, which remanded them to four days of police custody.

Police said a case was registered at the Sukher police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on the woman’s complaint.

As per the complaint, the woman was left alone after other guests gradually left the party. The senior female executive later offered to drop her home and took her in a car in which the CEO and the executive’s husband were also present.

During the journey, the accused allegedly purchased a substance resembling cigarettes and offered it to the woman. She reportedly lost consciousness after consuming it. The woman stated that she realised she had been sexually assaulted when she regained consciousness the next morning.

Police said the woman’s medical examination was conducted, her statement was recorded and further investigation is underway. The case has been handed over to an additional superintendent of police for detailed probe.
