Bhubaneswar, 26 December (H.S.) : Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Friday dismissed speculation of divisions within the party, asserting that the BJD “exists and will continue to exist for 100 years” as the political voice of the people of Odisha.
Addressing party leaders and workers at the BJD’s 29th foundation day programme in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik delivered a strong message of organisational unity amid ongoing public speculation over the party’s leadership and future direction following its loss of power.
Patnaik said repeated attempts were being made by “some parties” to spread misinformation about an impending split in the BJD, which he categorically rejected. He stressed that the regional party was not centred on a few individuals but was rooted in the emotions, pride, and aspirations of the people of Odisha.
“The BJD is not a party of one or two leaders. It is deeply connected with the people of Odisha. The BJD exists and will continue to exist, and it will remain the voice of Odias for the next 100 years,” he said.
Rejecting rumours of a possible break-up, Patnaik said the party had neither fractured in the past nor would it do so in the future. He added that the BJD’s strength stemmed from its ideological foundations and mass connect, shaped by the legacy of its founder Biju Patnaik.
“The BJD stands on the ideals of Biju Babu and will continue to serve the people of Odisha by adhering to those principles,” he said, urging party workers to maintain organisational discipline and remain committed to public service.
