Bhubaneswar, 25 December (H.S.) : Large parts of Odisha were shrouded in dense fog on Thursday morning as severe cold conditions continued to grip the state, disrupting normal life and significantly affecting road traffic across several districts, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Ground reports indicated poor visibility during the early hours, leading to slow vehicular movement on highways and city roads. In several locations, visibility reportedly dropped to nearly 50 metres, forcing commuters to exercise caution and resulting in delays.
In Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, thick fog enveloped major roads and arterial routes, hampering the movement of private vehicles, buses, and two-wheelers. Traffic flow remained sluggish for several hours as motorists navigated low-visibility conditions.
Similar weather conditions were reported from Puri, where mist-covered roads affected early-morning travel for both locals and visitors.
Dense fog was also observed in several interior and tribal-dominated districts. Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Koraput witnessed reduced visibility on highways and internal roads, impacting routine transportation across these regions.
