Mumbai,
23 Dec (HS): The formal announcement on alliance between Uddhav Thackeray’s
Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navirman Sena led by Raj Thackeray and their seat
sharing will be made at 12 noon on December 24 through a press conference, UBT
leader Sanjay Raut has stated on Twitter (X) handle.
Raut
stated that the discussion about alliance and seat sharing was completed in
Nashik. There is no confusion about the alliance among the workers of both the
parties. With the two brothers coming together a major change could be
experienced in Mumbai Municipal Corporation. It will have its impact on other
municipal corporations in the state.
Out of
the 227 Prabhag (cluster of wards), UBT is likely to contest 145 to 150
Prabhag, and MNS to field its candidates in 65 to 70 Prabhag. They have left 10
to 12 seats for NCP (Sharad Pawar) group. MNS will contest 12 to 15 seats,
which Shiv Sena (United) had won in 2017. Majority of the victorious candidates
from these seats, however, later joined Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde).
MAHAYUTI
The
discussion about seat sharing between partners of Mahayuti in 29 municipal
corporations is in the final stages. On Tuesday Chief Minister Devendra
Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other senior leaders are
expected to finalise the seat sharing formula.
With the
success in recently concluded Nagar Parishad and Nagar Palika elections, the
partners of the Mahayuti (Mega Alliance) are expecting similar support by
voters in the municipal corporation elections.
The
polling in 29 municipal corporations are scheduled for January 15 and the
counting of votes on January 16. The filing of the nomination forms has begun
on December 23.
