Kolkata, 23 December (H.S.):
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya shared a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) early Tuesday morning, levelling serious allegations against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said that Mamata Banerjee is the only one among the chief ministers of 12 states and union territories of the country who is continuously and aggressively opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
In his post, Amit Malviya alleged that the state government machinery is being openly used to disrupt this process, and a policy of pressure and intimidation is being adopted through officials. He claimed that all this effort is being made to protect the illegal and fake voters present in the electoral roll.
According to Amit Malviya, the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision has already yielded results that are far more impactful than the Chief Minister expected. He said that the second phase could completely dismantle the remaining structure of this alleged system, on which the political power of the Trinamool Congress rests.
The BJP leader also alleged that the mandate the Chief Minister claims is seriously compromised and flawed. He said that Mamata Banerjee herself is well aware of this truth, and that is why the opposition to the Special Intensive Revision is being intensified.
This statement by Amit Malviya is expected to trigger a sharp reaction and political debate in the state's politics once again.
