New Delhi, 20 December (H.S.): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two additional absconding accused on Saturday in connection with the brutal murder of Dinesh Pusoo Gawade in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, both linked to the banned terror outfit Communist Party of India (Maoist).
The suspects were identified as Raghu alias Pratap alias Irpa alias Mudella alias Sailu, a resident of Nizamabad district in Telangana, and Shankar Mahaka from Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra.
In November 2023, CPI (Maoist) cadres abducted Gawade and executed him mercilessly in Gadchiroli, suspecting him of being a police informer and having ties to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The assassination aimed to instill terror among local villagers and deter them from sharing intelligence on Naxal movements and activities with security forces. The NIA assumed control of the probe from Gadchiroli Police in October 2024, having previously filed a chargesheet against four others—Doba Vadde, Ravi Pallo, Sattu Mahaka, and Komati Mahaka.
Investigations remain ongoing as the agency intensifies efforts to dismantle the Maoist network in the region.
