20 December (H.S.): The National Capital Region (NCR) was covered in a white

sheet of fog on Saturday. Visibility became zero. Drivers faced a lot of

inconvenience in driving on the highways and other routes. The situation was

such that drivers were seen driving at a speed of 10-15 kilometers on the road.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Dr. Praveen Ranjan Singh said that police

officers remained stationed on various highways here from late night till

morning. They stopped the drivers and advised them to drive safely. At many

places, the police stopped the drivers of heavy vehicles and gave them tea and

warned them to be alert while driving and if they feel sleepy, they should park

their vehicles on the roadside.

Visibility

remained zero since this morning. The situation was such that even nearby

objects were not visible. The white sheet of fog wreaked havoc in Noida and

surrounding areas such that people could not see anything even 1 meter away. It

was difficult to see one tower from another in the societies here. When people

woke up in the morning, the entire city was covered with a white sheet.

Visibility was recorded zero since morning on various expressways including

Yamuna Expressway, Noida Expressway, National Highway 91, National Highway 24,

Eastern Peripheral Expressway. Vehicle drivers had to face a lot of problems

due to the fog. Due to the fog, people on duty in various industrial units here

were also not able to reach on time.
