Jalpaiguri, 19 December (H.S.): A mysterious light was spotted in the sky over Jalpaiguri on Thursday evening. Videos and pictures of the phenomenon have gone viral on social media. Many people have claimed it was a UFO, a spacecraft from another planet. Others have offered different explanations. Speculation is rife regarding the bright streak of light.

A large number of residents from Dhupguri, Maynaguri, Sadar, and Rajganj blocks claimed to have seen a string of lights streaking across the sky around 7 PM on Thursday. They described seeing a bright streak of light piercing the dark sky before disappearing. Some people claimed to have felt strong tremors, while others reported hearing a buzzing sound. Several people also claimed to have seen a circle of light hitting the ground.

However, the police have reassured the public. District Superintendent of Police Y Raghuvanshi stated that all police stations have been instructed to investigate the matter. As per information received so far, nothing has fallen to the ground, and there are no reports of any damage. Meanwhile, many on social media are claiming that the incident was actually a meteor shower. However, some are suggesting it could be a Chinese rocket. Many netizens have dismissed this claim as well. Overall, speculation is at its peak in Jalpaiguri regarding the mysterious light seen on Thursday evening.
