Lucknow,

19 Dec (HS): On Goa Liberation Day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath sent his warmest greetings to the people of Goa. He paid respect to

the valiant freedom fighters whose sacrifices paved the path for Goa's

liberation and underlined the state's collective commitment to upholding the

ideals of liberty, dignity, and unity.

In

a post on X, he mentioned, “Heartiest congratulations to all the people of Goa

on Goa Liberation Day! Salute to all the immortal warriors who broke down the

walls of foreign slavery and connected this beautiful land with the soul of

India. May this state of culture, courage, and self-respect reach new heights

every day.”

Goa

Liberation Day, observed on December 19, commemorates the liberation of Goa

from Portuguese rule in 1961 following Operation Vijay, which ended 450 years

of colonial rule and united it with India; it is a day of remembrance for

freedom fighters as well as a celebration of Goan identity, often marked by

parades and cultural events in Goa.
